More than 2,655 young ones participated and learn how to impact their communities.
The Children’s Ministries department in the Bangladesh Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church collaborated with the regional missions in its territory to facilitate the “Mission-Wide Children’s Bible Conference” in four venues belonging to the territories of each mission earlier in 2024.
The first Children’s Bible Conference was held at Jalchatra Adventist Seminary & School, which belongs to North Bangladesh Mission, followed by a second conference at Koligram Seventh-day Adventist Church, which belongs to the territory of South Bangladesh Mission. The third took place at Adventist Hill Tracts Seminary & School, which belongs to the territory of East Bangladesh Mission, and a fourth conference took place at Seventh-day Adventist Maranatha Seminary & School, in the West Bangladesh Mission. The theme of the Bible conferences was “Be a Faithful Missionary” for Jesus.
More than 2,655 children attended the conferences. They were sponsored by the KIM Project, 1000 Bible Movement, Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) Children’s Ministries, and BAUM Children’s Ministries.
The event focused on the importance of Bible studies and Bible stories for helping children to grow and learn in Jesus Christ, organizers said. “Every session of this conference aimed to impart biblical education and practical application of essential Christian values for the children through storytelling, drama context, sermon context, bible quiz and memory verse competition, and religious Christian songs,” they explained. “The conference reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening children’s presence at the center of our faith-based initiatives to make them faithful missionaries for the Lord Jesus Christ.”
BAUM president Won Sang Kim, children’s ministries director Sookyung Kim, and Jongsuk Han were present as keynote speakers and facilitators. Each mission president and children’s ministry director served as a guiding force for hosting the biblically oriented program in their territories, organizers said. “This thought-provoking program was full of arts and crafts activities, drawing, children’s fun games, storytelling, campfires, and devotion every morning and evening,” they shared.
The conference gave a platform for the children’s engagement to promote greater awareness of the church in the community through outdoor cleaning, hospital visitation and prayer, distribution of health-related leaflets, health screening service, and other community services. The conference re-educated every child to work together with a unique mission of igniting their candle of faith in the people living around them. It inspired them to lead a life of devotion and service that reflects their Christ-like character.
During the conference, 65 participants accepted Jesus as their personal Savior through baptism, organizers reported. “The event ended with a commitment to learn more about the Lord Jesus Christ through daily Bible study and make a friendship with Him,” they said.
