Prayer and dedication service sets the tone for a year of active involvement.
The Korean Adventist Women’s Association (KAWA) of the Korean Union Conference (KUC) held a dedication service at the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) headquarters in Paju, Korea, on January 18. The NSD auditorium welcomed about 50 attendees who serve as advisors, pastors, women’s association executives, and women’s ministries directors across the country.
KAWA’s president, Sang-sook Nam, made a welcome speech and presented a report on the 2023 plans for various ministries, which include evangelism, cooking classes, and leadership training. There are also definite plans to offer education opportunities for women and keep women focused on mission and outreach, Nam said.
NSD president Yo-han Kim stressed the importance of women’s service for the Seventh-day Adventist Church, as he encouraged them to stay committed to the Lord and His mission across the territory.
KUC women ministries director Chung-sil Yun also spoke. “I encourage you to trust in God’s strength as He blesses and empowers the spiritual gifts given by God to minister more effectively,” she said.
Raquel Arrais, NSD women’s ministries director, affirmed women in their calling. “I thank God for including women in Jesus’ ministry, and for including women today,” she told women attending the event.
At the dedication service, women gathered during the first calendar month in the year to recommit themselves to serving Jesus wherever He leads, leaders said. All the attendees recommitted their vision, mission, and passion and prayed together for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in their lives and service.
The focus of the women’s plan of action includes remembering their mission, which states that women will “participate enthusiastically in the mission of the church,” and their stated vision of “actively participate in spreading the gospel.” It also includes developing the passion for women to reach out to local communities across the country.
At the end of the program, all the women read the mission statement and commitment pledge of KAWA together and had time for everyone to pray for the projects and many ministries KAWA is working on, for the revival and mission revitalization of the Adventist Church in Korea, and for the I WILL GO and other mission projects. “As women, we also prayed for the peace and safety of the country, and for the revitalization of the North Korean mission,” Nam said.
The NSD women ministries department offered a special lunch to all the attendees as an opportunity to say thank you for KAWA’s dedication and service to the global church. “It is this fellowship around the table and the joy of the women working and serving together that keep our mission, vision, and passion alive,” Nam said.
