380 Adventist women meet for worship, witnessing, and sharing.
Warm coastal sunshine and breezes welcomed 380 women from all over Taiwan as they met together August 30-31, 2019, for a women’s ministries conference in Kenting, at the southern tip of the island nation.
Seventh-day Adventist women came together from 54 churches across the country to celebrate what the Lord has been doing for them over the past five years. Also in attendance were 16 women who are not yet members of the Adventist Church.
Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) Women’s Ministries director Lisa Clouzet attended the conference and was the keynote speaker for the Saturday (Sabbath) worship service. Basing her message on Bible verses such as 1 Corinthians 16:14 — “Let all that you do be done in love” — and Colossians 3:23 — “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men” — Clouzet urged women to serve just as Jesus served. “We are called to serve through His love,” she reminded them.
In 2018, Adventist women in Taiwan got better organized as they launched small groups to be more intentional about Total Member Involvement (TMI), an initiative of the Adventist world church that seeks to get every member involved in the mission of sharing Jesus.
Leaders reported that this year, besides leading out and attending small group meetings, several of these same women were involved in evangelistic meetings that took place across Taiwan. They conducted these activities, leaders said, besides doing what most of the women regularly do: caring for their families and homes, working outside the home, and leading out in local church activities.
“The results of what women do all over the world to share Jesus with their families, friends, and others may not be entirely known until Jesus comes,” leaders acknowledged. “Nevertheless, the women attending the event were able to see some of the results of their prayers and efforts when they witnessed the baptism of three precious people in the Pacific Ocean on August 31.”
According to many witnesses, it was touching to see the smiling faces of those baptized as they publicly shared their love for and surrender to Jesus Christ. The ceremony was viewed not only by those attending the conference but others who happened to be on the beach that day. TWC executive secretary Mark Tseng and local church pastor Stanley Lo officiated.
Celebrations throughout the weekend included music, testimonies, skits, time for sharing, and words of encouragement from different leaders.
“It was an inspirational time for those in attendance and one that helped recharge their batteries to continue serving their families, church, and communities,” leaders said.
